Marriner Wood Merrill |
Purpose of this site: To gather and share information about the ancestors and descenants (deceased) of Marriner Wood Merrill. I am a Great Grandson of Marriner Wood Merrill. Reading many of his writings has brought me closer to him even though he passed away three decades before I was born. His journal entry about a winter trip to a canon near Bountiful, Utah where he harvested trees for log homes will always be in my memory. His miraculous extraction from being pinned face-down against frozen ice and snow, when logs rolled off his wagon, lets me know that his guardian angel was present. His being saved from a freezing death in the canyon that day allowes me to be here on earth to write this blog.
I have in my possession a record book written in Marriner's own hand. It has been handed down from Marriner to a son, grandson, and finally to me, his great grandson. This record book contains birth, marriage, and death information for Marriner's parents, siblings, and other family members. It also contains the records of his plural marriages. My intent is to scan the book and place the images on footnote.com so that Marriner's interested descendants can view the images.
The photo above was taken of a painting of Marriner that hangs in the Apostle's Room of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
