Commissioned painting of Marriner Wood Merrill

In the summer of 2015 at the Summerfest Arts Faire being held on the Logan Tabernacle grounds I met Jeremy Winborg a famous local artist living in Cache Valley, Utah. He agreed to do a Commissioned art piece about a log hauling miracle Marriner Wood Merrill had while hauling logs from North Mill Creek Canyon in 1856.  Jeremy Merrill, a 3rd Great Grandson of Marriner, was the model for the project. (Jeremy Merrill, Ralph, Derwin, Casper, Olonzo, Marriner).

Jeremy Winborg indicated he loved to paint but sometimes had a difficult time coming up with titles for his paintings.  I asked him if he would mind picking a winner from family member suggested titles for the M W Merrill painting. He seemed elated with that plan.  We invited Casper W Merrill's descendants and their spouses to submit titles.  Jeremy Winborg picked the winner:  "The Resounding Faith and Silent Rescue of M.W. Merrill, 1856" submitted by Matt Krebs, a 3rd Great Grand Son-in-Law of Marriner.  There were 48 names submitted.  The artist consented to also pick 2nd and 3rd place winners.  Second place: "The Hand that lifted Marriner" submitted by Jennika Merrill a 3rd Great Granddaughter of Marriner.  Third place: "Merciful Deliverance" by Anthony Merrill a 3rd Great Grandson of Marriner.  All three winners will receive a Giclee Print of the painting, "The Resounding Faith and Silent Rescue of M.W. Merrill, 1856"  Those interested in obtaining a copy can do so at http://www.jeremywinborg.com.
